Lighter. Slimmer. Better looking.
High-index ultra-thin lenses — ideal for stronger prescriptions, so your glasses feel lighter and look more refined.
What are ultra-thin lenses?
Ultra-thin lenses use a higher refractive index, so even strong prescriptions can be made thinner and lighter. The higher the index, the thinner the lens — especially for rimless or semi-rimless frames above about 3 D.
Why choose ultra-thin lenses?
Up to ~40% slimmer
Versus standard lenses
Lighter
Comfortable all day
Durable
Great for rimless frames
Cleaner look
More natural appearance
Compare refractive index levels

Standard
Best for mild myopia under about 2.50 D.

Slim
About 20% slimmer. Fits roughly 2.75 – 3.50 D.

Ultra-thin
About 30–40% slimmer. For higher myopia from ~3.75 D.
Choosing the right index
Guidance from the Dien Bien Phu Optical 529 team
Myopia (nearsightedness)
Hyperopia (farsightedness)
Note: The stronger your prescription, the higher the index you should consider for thinner, lighter, better-looking lenses.
Why are ultra-thin lenses thinner?
Light and refraction
With myopia or hyperopia, the lens bends light to focus on the retina. Stronger powers need more lens thickness.
High index
High-index material bends light more efficiently, so less material is needed — meaning a noticeably thinner lens.
The result
A 1.74 lens can be up to about 40% slimmer than a standard 1.50 lens, especially impressive at high myopia.

Equipment & finishing

Edge thinning
The lens edge is precision trimmed on dedicated equipment to reduce rim thickness without hurting your field of view.

Aspheric lens design
Flatter lens curves reduce thickness further. Combined with high index, you get the slimmest possible result.
